January has Flown by!

Dear Family,

This last month has just flown by. We are now starting Febrero (sorry it has to be spanish because i dont know how to spell it in english any more)

This last week has been fun. We had changes yesterday and my new comp is Elder Floriano from Peru. He is an awesome guy and an even sweeter greatly amazing missionary. We have about the same time in the mission. He has two more weeks then i do. But we end the mission at the same time. I attached a pic so that you guys can get to know him.

This last sunday we had a great amount of people in our ward. And we had a great time in the classes and the other reunions.

Today we played sports and i got sunburned. This letter is really short its ok. I will try to write more next week.

But something interesting that happened last night. Our church was broken into and robbed. They entered in and broke the alarm system and broke some glass and broke a glass of rum on the wall. Then they left with 4 painting from the chapel. One of Jesus in the Americas and the other was the First Vision. So we think they wanted to know about the restoration of the gospel. The thing is is that they left of the stuff that has a big dollar value so it was really weird.

Well that was my great pday so i hope you all have a great week.

Zone Conference Week

Dear Family and Friends,

This last week was a great week. In church on Sunday we had lots of investigators and less active members in the chapel to accompany us. Our Gospel Principles class was full of investigators and two recent converts. Its always great to see the fruits of our labors.

The on Monday we had Zone conference. We got together as two zones and had a conference with President Cook. HE talked about the difficult questions and goals in life. And how when we come across a difficult question, we have three choices. We can reject the question and act as if it never happened or we can reject the church and become inactive. Or the best option is to pray and fast and study to find an answer. Its how we grow as people. Its the wonder of this Gospel. We have the opportunity to ask questions ad receive answers to those questions. That's how Joseph Smith received the First Vision. He had a question.

He also talked about how its crucial that we have our testimony centered on the Restoration of the Gospel and the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Not on a person, a prophet, the Mormon people. or any other thing. Because when we see that that person or persons does something wrong. We loose the testimony and don't continue in the church. So its important that our testimony has a firm foundation in Christ.

It was a great Conference and i learned a lot. If we don't do the things that the Lord asks of us. We aren't showing faith so we will never see the miracles.

Thanks for everything and have a great week.

A very HOT week

Dear Family and Friends,

This last week wasnt that bad. Just a little lower in lessons because we had a few people leave for vacations. But we are working really hard with a less active family and trying to help them overcome their addictions. Also we had a great experience yesterday. Everything had fallen and so we started to contact a whole street. At every door we were turned down. From "I dont want to hear a word you have to say" to "I dont care!". By the end I was thinking, "Why did I choose this Street?". But at the very last door, a young man came out and started to talk to us. We asked if we could share a message with him and he said yes. So we entered his house and shared with him. At the end of the message he committed to pray about the message and that it interested him. We also found out that his mom had a Book of Mormon from missionaries that she contacted some time ago to ask them a question. Then his parents left and were very nice. They talked to us and liked what we are doing here. So we got a return appointment and are looking forward to going back. I guess it was just necessary that we contact every door just to find that the last one had somebody behind it that was waiting for us to share with them.

Also today we went to the temple and saw the new video. It was pretty good and the temple always makes one feel great.

Well have a great week and talk to you all later,
Love ya,

HAPPY NEW YEARS

Dear family and friends,

First off, HAPPY NEW YEARS!! I know its late, but better late then never.

So this week was great just full of lots of things to do. It was really hot and we walked a lot, but that's the mission.

The only thing that happened this week is that we set another baptismal date with an investigator. She says that she knows the church is true and that she likes what we do. So we will see what happens there. Here name is Maria Teresa and she is a great person. Also, another investigator named Florentina came to church on sunday for the first time and loved it. She also loves the story of Joseph Smith and likes what we believe as a church and religion. So we have high hopes for her too. Also Jean Pierre, who is in the baptismal photos holding the baby, is the boyfriend of Ambar and he came to church too. He participated and asked questions and i think he enjoyed himself. We are seeing a lot of progress here and hope to see it continue.

Then today we went to a planetarium. it was pretty fun. Also we visited Central Station here in Santiago. Its got a big clock and everything. With trains and a bunch of places to eat and buy stuff. It was a great way to spend our pday.

Thats all i got for this week, So talk to you all later.
Love you all,
Elder Ashworth

CHRISTMAS AND A BAPTISM!!

Dear Family and Friends,

This last week was great. we had a lot of things to do and we enjoyed the holidays. I have pictures but i forgot my camera in the house. So they will have to come next week.

it was great talking to you guys and seeing all of the snow. Its sooo hot here. Its like over 90 degrees every day. And today its humid so its even worse. But we are working hard and drinking lots of water.

The baptism that we had this week was great. Ambar got baptized and confirmed as a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and has been brought to the fold of Christ. She is now a "candidate for salvation". But it was a good spiritual time.

as for the New Years we will be staying it in the house. We have to enter the house at 9 because everybody gets crazy party hard here. So we will try to sleep with all of the parties, loud music, and fireworks that last all night. Then tomorrow we have a BBQ with some other missionaries because we have the rest of our p-day tomorrow.

As for the new missionaries that come in, it differs every change. Some times it 2 or 3 and sometimes it like 10 or 15.

Thats all i got for this week,
Have a Happy New Years!
