Another Week down

Dear Family and Friends,

Well this week was pretty slow when it came to the work because a lot of our appointments fell and people were sick because the temperature is changing. Its getting colder and i have to wear a jacket when the sun goes down. But this week we did a service project at a school for little kids. It was like a preschool through 1st or 2nd grade school. We painted a bunch of rooms and the walls and playhouse in the yard for them to play on and around. It was really fun and great to see how happy the teachers were for our help in repainting the school for the kids.

Also we got a reference this week for 2 people who are really interested in the gospel. We have an apointment with them tonight so we will see how it goes. Also we finally visited one of the less active members that we visit for the first time in almost a month. We talked about keeping the Sabbath Day holy and invited her to church. THe next morning she was in church for the first time in over 20 years. It was great to see  her there. Espescially since this weekend was stake conference so we got to listen to an area 70 from orsorno chile. He spoke alot about the missionary work and how the members can help the missionaries more with the work of Salvation. I hope that it reaches the members here and they start to help us even more so we can see more success.

Well thats all that i have for this week. Good luck this week with dance, drivers ed, school, and work! Love you all and yes mom that picture brings back memories of many days sitting in that same spot :)

Love you All,

La Semana Santa

Hello Family and friends,

Its great to hear from you all. And HAPPY EASTER or FELIZ SEMANA SANTA! This last week a lot of things were closed on Friday and Saturday to honor the Pascua of Christ. It was cool to see that they do that bu interesting to see just how many people actually remember Christ. It is more the fact that it is a tradition to do the things, like eat fish and not meat, but the people don't remember Christs Sacrifice for us. We got to watch Son of God the movie today for P-Day and it was good and helped to show the sacrifice of Christ for us.

As for me and the mission, everything is going good. The work is still going and we are still pushing forward. We are still teaching and visiting. I have a family that would like me to send you there salutations, "Hello" from the family Lagos.

The weeks are just going by so fast i don't know what to tell you guys about the mission. This week we had a great lesson with an investigator but she didn't show to church with her family, which was a little sad but hopefully she will keep her commitment to pray. Other then that the other lessons weren't anything really big just normal lessons that we would have every week.

Well i hope that everything is going well up there in Rexburg and good luck this week in work, school, dance, and all your other activities. Attached is the message we got from my mission president today it was really good. Hope you like it.

Love you all,
Elder Ashworth

HELLO FROM CHILE

Hey family,

This week has flown by with my new companion. What they say is true that when you lose yourself in the work the time flies. I just completed 7 months in the mission and cant believe that its happened. Its flying by. Not much to talk about this week. Its was pretty much the same. We just visited people and shared the gospel.

Today for P-Day we went to San Cristobal. Its really pretty there. I took pictures but you will have to wait to see them because i dont time to send them. We went to this garden there up on top of the hill. We also found a street called the missionaries. It was really funny. Sorry this email is really short but i dont have much time.

Its crazy to see pictures and see everyone growing up. I hope you all have a great time this week and enjoy Samantha's wedding. And i hope you all enjoy this Easter.

CHANGES!

Family and friends,

Its always great to hear from you all. And as for the earthquakes that are happening down here im too far away to even feel them let alone see any of the damage. And everything else is going well.

Today we had changes again and my old companion Elder Terra is now down in Orsorno to serve down there for the next year and a half. My companion is from Paraguay and is 25 years old. He has the same amount of time as me in the mission because we left the MTC at the same time. He seems like a nice guy so im sure we have a great time.

As for this last week we spent a lot of time saying goodbye to people since m companion was leaving the mission and not just changing sectors. But we did get to go to the temple which was great as always. It helped to give a feeling of peace during a hectic week and started off conference weekend really well. I went through the session in spanish. Its great to see that i could understand everything that was said.

Then general conference was great. They spoke a lot about faith in Christ and the family. There were a lot of "palos" (Palo= a piece of wood like a 2X4). Or in other words they had a lot of strong words and kind of laid it down hard. But that's what this world needs now. We cant get anywhere by beating around the bush. Usually the person needs to be hit on the side of the head with a "palo" then they will respond and see that they need to change. Whether its a real palo or a spiritual palo sometimes it just need to be done.

That's all i have for this week. But im excited to get to know my new companion to work with him. I cant believe that i have been in this sector for 3 months and will complete 7 months in the mission on the 11th of April. Time flies. Choose to spend time doing the things that count and not things that can be swept away in an instant.

Love you all! Enjoy your week!

Short week!

Dear Family,

This week was a short week so i don't have much to talk about. We were stuck in the house all Friday and Saturday because it was El Dia Del Joven Combatiente. And on this day the young people go crazy. And in some parts they flip and burn buses and shoot off guns into the air. Most people just hangout in their houses after dark on Saturday because Saturday is the holiday. But for safety we had to stay in the house on Friday too.

As for me and my companion we are doing good. He has been waiting for his visa to come through so he could go to Venezuela. Well they have taken all of the missionaries out of Venezuela so his mission has been changed to Chile Orsorno and heads down there on Monday April 7. So i will be getting a new companion again in a week!

As for an experience we taught our investigator Marta again. She is the one who has no faith. We read Alma 32 with her and talked solely about faith. She had lots of questions but when we finished she asked us if there was a spot in the Book of Mormon that talked more about faith. She wants to read more to help her understand and to receive the faith she needs in Christ. So i am really excited for her and her desire to learn more and try to help her faith to grow once again.

Other then that nothing much happened. I hope you all have a great week.

Love you all,
Elder Ashworth
